Senate Bill 57, a school transparency bill sponsored by Senator Ted Harvey and Representative Amy Stephens, was voted down in the House Education Committee on a strict party-line vote. As Representative Stephens said, taxpayers deserve to know how and where their money is being spent. Despite an acknowledgment that school transparency is important, House Democrats refused to support the bill.
